Cabin Build Consultation
Thinking about building a cabin or short-term rental?
I'm Morry Kamara. I built the cabins at Kamara Cabins and run them as short-term rentals, and I hold a Virginia Class A contractor license. People ask me about building often enough that I've set aside time for it: one private hour to talk through your project.
60 Minutes | $100

What we can cover
Your project, your questions.
- Whether the project is feasible, and where it tends to go wrong
- Realistic construction budgets and where the money goes
- Land and site: access, slope, utilities, clearing
- Design and layout for a cabin guests remember
- Amenities and the guest experience
- Value engineering: what to spend on and what to skip
- Working with contractors and subcontractors
- Running the cabin after it's built: Airbnb and direct booking
- A second look at an early concept, drawing or budget
- What your next steps could be
Where it comes from
Built, then run.
The advice comes from doing it: buying the land, working through permits and subcontractors, building The Sparrow and The Turtle, and now The Stag, then hosting guests in them. You'll hear what worked, what cost more than expected and what I'd do differently.
It's a conversation, not a course or a coaching program. Come with your questions, and bring any plans, sketches or links you want me to look at.

What's included
60 minutes of my time.
The $100 covers one 60-minute conversation by video or phone. It doesn't include:
- · Architectural plans or engineering
- · Formal estimates or bids
- · Site visits or inspections
- · Permitting or zoning services
- · Construction management
- · Investment, tax, legal or financing advice
- · An agreement to build your project
The $100 is paid when you book and isn't refundable, including if you cancel. If something comes up, you can reschedule from your confirmation email.
Good to know
General guidance.
What I share comes from my own experience as a contractor and as an owner-operator, and it's general information. Site conditions, building codes, zoning, permits, construction costs, financing and rental markets vary a lot by location and project, so I can't promise prices, returns, approvals or outcomes. Please check anything you rely on with the right professionals: architects, engineers, attorneys, accountants, lenders and your local building officials.
