Luray, Virginia
Bring the dog. Up to 2 pets per cabin, one cleaning fee per stay, and the river ten minutes down the hill.
The short version
Most pet policies are found in the small print at checkout. Here is all of ours, and none of it changes at the last step.
At every cabin, dogs or otherwise. The limit is per cabin, so two cabins booked together can each take their own.
$25 at The Turtle, $50 at The Sparrow and The Stag. One pet or two, one night or five, the fee is the same, and it appears in the price before you pay.
Tell us at booking. Service animals are welcome, never count as pets and are never charged the fee.
At the cabins
The three cabins sit on a wooded hillside ten minutes outside Luray, with the whole hillside to walk and nothing to share a wall with. Each has its own private hot tub and its own outdoor space: the forest-edge deck at The Turtle, the wraparound deck and stone fire pit at The Sparrow, and a fully covered deck at The Stag.
The agreement asks what any host would: keep your pets supervised, clean up after them, and head off damage or noise before it starts. The pet fee covers the extra cleaning a pet normally means. If a stay leaves more than that behind, reasonable, documented costs beyond the fee can be charged, which is the same rule every guest agrees to at checkout.
Out for the day
The Shenandoah River is ten minutes down the hill. The South Fork is mild water, riffles and the odd class I or II, and the outfitters in town rent canoes, kayaks and tubes with the shuttle included. Whether a dog can ride along is the outfitter’s call, so ask when you book the trip.
Shenandoah National Park is fifteen minutes to the Thornton Gap entrance. Dogs are allowed on most of the park’s trails; Dark Hollow Falls is one of the few where they are not, so save that one for a day without them. The Explore guide has the walks, the fees and what closes when.
Downtown Luray is ten minutes the other way, with the Hawksbill Greenway running along the creek behind Main Street.
Service animals
Service animals are welcome at all three cabins, don't count toward the pet limit and are never charged the pet cleaning fee. Emotional support animals are treated as pets under the rental agreement, which is worth knowing at booking rather than at the door.
The full terms are in the rental agreement, section 9, and the short version is on the FAQ.
Which cabin
The same pet rules at every cabin. The difference is how many people are coming.
